🥇 Gold – Student Single Room: A Craftsman Kitchen
🥈 Silver – Student Universal Design Bathroom: Living La Vida Tiled
A Craftsman Kitchen is a contemporary reinterpretation of the classic artisan bungalow, where tradition and modernity converge. The project respects the original architectural essence while introducing design elements that respond to current needs. Custom millwork in deep amber tones pairs with hardware that evokes traditional apothecary cabinet systems. The black and white checkerboard flooring brings period character to the workspace, while the transition to honey-coloured herringbone parquet delineates spaces without barriers. The integrated herb garden functions as both a visual element and a fresh ingredient source, alongside the custom wine storage system that marries form with function.
Living La Vida Tiled celebrates universal design through tiles from Spain, Morocco, and Latin America that create a vibrant mosaic of cultural memory. Fixtures include lever-handle taps and discreetly integrated grab bars. The spacious curbless shower with fold-down seat transcends accessibility to become luxury. This bathroom serves as the perfect conversation starter about culture, travel, and inclusive design.
This bedroom reinterprets craftsman intimacy through a carved wood headboard wall featuring organic curves, honouring artisanal tradition with contemporary language. The wallpaper provides tactile warmth that complements the richness of the carved wood. Natural tones and soft textures create a serene refuge that respects the bungalow's original essence while addressing today’s intimacy needs.
